Description:
WiValley is growing and has new broadband projects coming into the pipeline. We are currently focused on rolling out new community broadband solutions and we are seeking a Network Administrator to assist with both current processes as well as assisting with establishing new network roll-outs. Responsible for monitoring network performance and troubleshooting network problems.
Requires Excellent verbal and written communication skills including documentation
Must be available for a flexible work schedule (possible weekends, holidays, evenings)
The most important skills for the successful candidate are:
- Ability to maintain, configure, and troubleshoot access and distribution switches
- Must have knowledge of MAC and IP addressing (broadcast, unicast, multicast), switch operating systems, and basic understanding of spanning tree functions
- Must have knowledge of VLAN, BGP and OSPF Networking protocols
- Must have knowledge of Radius and Virtual Server environments
- Must have knowledge of point to point tunneling and secure encryption
- Ability to maintain, configure and troubleshoot traditional telephony components
- Ability to maintain, configure and troubleshoot VoIP end points and voicemail accounts
- Ability to manage hardware requirements including staging, testing, installation, configuration, maintenance, and decommissioning of components applicable to area of responsibility
- Understanding of infrastructure cabling, i.e. fiber, copper, and coax
- Understanding of wireless infrastructure, ie Access points, subscriber modules, point to point links, wifi, hotspot, LTE licensed and unlicensed technologies
- Fully understands the hardware means of sending and receiving data on a carrier, including defining cables, cards and physical aspects
Overview:
- Sets up, configures, and supports internal and/or external networks
- Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations
- Troubleshoots network performance issues and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan
- Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment
- Provides technical support and guidance to users
- Assists in the development and maintenance of network communications
- Uses knowledge of LAN / WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks
- Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration, directing
- System installation, defining, documenting and enforcing system standards.
- Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies and defining network access.
- Conducts outdoor and indoor wireless equipment installation testing
- Ensures that documentation is effectively completed and submitted, as appropriate
This job requires integrity, positive attitude, interaction, energy, education, organization, and both intelligence and manual skills. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Strong experience with network configuration and troubleshooting.
Candidates must possess strong verbal, written, and numerical communication skills, and strong capabilities on personal computers, test equipment, and software applications. Must be willing to work flexible schedules for testing, trouble shooting and repairs and may have some on call time for possible repair calls or for outages. Scheduled time off will be available as well. Position requires good team work as well as the ability to work independently and think outside of the box. Ability to change focus on different projects as needed.
